The Three Ackroyd Girls: Karen (Mom), Becky (Sis) & Barb (Me)Here's the story of our girls weekend in Vegas....
What was meant to be a retreat for Mom and Beck in Barb's empty house became a girls weekend for all three. Greg and I had planned to go to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit Greg's sister Lindy and attend the baby blessing of their 2nd. Greg's other sis Tonya had given us buddy passes on Jet Blue so the whole fam could be there for the festivities. I cleaned my little fingers to the bone (they aren't used to such hard labor) on Friday getting the house ready for my Mom and Sis. I even changed my sheets, fluffed the pillows and put a treat on the pillow for my sis...anyway...
We tried to catch the red eye to NY and then hop another flight to NC, but alas it twas not to be ...after we had packed, raced to the airport, said a quick hello to Becky on her way into Vegas, were searched at security and made it to our gate they had just given away the only 2 standby spots. We could have caught a later flight, but we'd have to go through Boston and a 4 hr. layover and no guarantees of a spot. So, Greg decided that it wasn't worth a quick two day trip to spend one in the airport...We called Mom and Becky and they circled around the airport and came back to pick us up.
Beck was feeling footloose and fancy free with no kids and requested a stop straight away for frozen yogurt (This was the last time we were health conscious the whole weekend). We cruised Eastern with the windows down and Cole was so hyped up he was screaming with delight. We got our yogurt, came home and fell asleep in a sugar induced comma...
The next day we dressed alike, just kidding. I put this shirt on after Beck had gotten dressed. You see after all these years and even though we live miles apart we still like the same things. Beck had gotten this shirt this summer (in another color) I liked it, so I went and bought a green one and then she liked the green one and went and bought another shirt...see that's how it works when you are twiners. I, needless to say, did change my shirt before we ventured out for a day of shopping sans kids!

The rest of the weekend included taking in the strip attractions, visiting cousin Cheryl and Bryan Johnson and of course, more shopping and dinning out.
I must give a shout out to the girls for helping me complete one of my many projects that without them would have gone unfinished. You see, I have dreams of being able to sew, and truth be told I can, but not too well. If I labor long enough I can figure things out, if my bobbon cooperates... Anyway, my couch pillows now have a new face thanks to their hours of hand stitching to complete. We each took a pillow and volia they were finished within a few hours (okay, I was the last to finish...and it took me twice the time it did my mom, but I'm pretty proud).
Anyway, if you'd read your way through this long post, give yourself a pat on the back. We had a great weekend and it was fun to spend some time with the girls. We determined that in our future their should be a spa getaway weekend...but not a spa where they are too health conscious and physically rigorous, but one that is more pampering with great food...Mom suggested we save this girls trip until we really need a getaway...like when our kids are teenagers...ha! I don't know if I can wait till then. As usual I vote for one now and one later.
