Random Summer Pics

Greg just downloaded a few random iphone photos from this summer...and now I'm getting all nostaglic. Summer went by too quickly. Maternity leave went by too quickly. And, it was bliss (well...okay, most of it). I've loved being home with the boys this summer. But alas, all good things must come to an end... and more good things to start.

Summer wouldn't be complete without Fun Dip tongues!

Costco churros (okay, these aren't reserved for summer treats)

Backyard "horsey" rides

Picnicking and watching a summer play

And praying...

See, totally random!

Saturday Adventures

A train ride and a root beer...talk about adventure!

Although our excursion was met with some trepidation at first, once we boarded the Boulder City train for our rousing ride (it took 45 min. to go 7 miles) our boy was all brave.

"See mom this isn't scary"!

Ha! I smiled and gritted my teeth. This from the boy who just minutes before was screaming outside the train station "I don't want to go on a train ride"!

No fear now...

It was windy and humid, but a cool 90 degrees, so we rode in the open car.

As you can see I got a bit wind blown...
but at least I wasn't sporting a comb over...

Crew loved the open air and slept under the bench.

Greg scouted out a new trail to bike (with his Dad)...

After the ride, we boarded a smaller car (built by a volunteer, just for kicks) for a ride down the opposite direction toward the dam. It was a short ride, but Crew decided to wake up and Cole was all smiles with Dad.

After the ride was over we made a stop in the souvenir shop...

And then headed to Greg's favorite part of the trip (and mine too) a frothy cold root beer in a chilled mug!

(Thanks Boyds and Trumans for the idea).

Logo-ed up

With T-shirts and hats, website up and vinyl on the truck, it finally feels official.

Crystal Waters Pool Service
is open for business.

Oh, and a door hanger too.

Thanks to many family and friends for referrals and support. Thanks to Tonya and Lindy for the vinyl (and the youtube video on how to adhere properly...). Greg's business is up and running. 23 pools and adding more. I'm proud of him. I never would've guessed we'd be in the pool service biz. Life is unpredictable, but grand.

What a Wonderful Life

I'm usually the one that opts for the funny card vs. the sappy card...the one who rolls her eyes at overly gushy lovey dovey remarks made by starry-eyed couples...the one who thinks too much PDA is just too much, but today I am going to dip my toe in the water of sappy happy land for a very good cause.

It'll be 11 years on Sat. Eleven years of marriage. Years of high highs and some low lows and many in-betweens, but through it all I've had a partner. Kind of like a twin, only better (sorry Beck). Someone who has been through it all with me and is still here right beside me.

Together with our Father in Heaven, we've built a beautiful life. A rich life. A wonderful life.

Greg has never held me back from anything I've ever wanted to do. He is my biggest cheerleader. My best friend. Despite all my craziness, and trust me there is plenty, he loves me. He loves me more than I deserve most days. He is always so very good to me. He is kind. I admit I've tried to rile him up for a good fight, but he never does (and boy does that frustrate me) and I'm so ever glad he doesn't.

He's taken some blows from life. And I've watched him struggle. And I've struggled too. And, it turns out he is a pretty good fighter. He won't fight with me, but he will fight for his family. He is optimistic. He is faithful. He is everything I've needed to help me get through. And with our Father in Heaven teaching us ever so patiently, we have become stronger.

So, here we are in 2009. 11 years. and two beautiful boys. I am happy. Happy with my choice and determined to choose to love and live a wonderful life.

I love you Greg.

Baptism by dunking

Greg conducting baptism on Sat...

Cole sitting on the floor in front of the baptismal font watching the Rincons...

Nursery teacher leans over and whispers in his ear, "one day when you are older your Daddy will baptize you."

Cole's face alarmed.

Closing song Cole approaches daddy apprehensively.

Daddy asks, "Do you want to sit on my lap"?

Cole, "Okay, but don't dunk me daddy."

Membership Included

I'm proud to announce that I'm officially a member of the Mommy N' Me group...(Do I get a card, a badge, or something?:-)

Yesterday Cole and I hosted our first get-together and we had a great time. Crew was an outstanding baby and swung in the swing and took a nap. The kids rode the whale (or attempted to), shot water guns, fished and climbed the slide. The moms braved the cool water, but settled on the hot tub and chatted under the shade.

Thanks to everyone who came. Let's do it again!

Projects Complete!

Thanks to a 12 ft. ladder (courtesy of the Stouts) and a good friend (Mr. Sharp) we have completed the 4 -year light fixture hanging project (without the use of a climbing harness and rope this time).

While Greg was at it I added in a new hanging project...I bought this iron work with my b-day moola at the clearance center at Rod Works in UT. Happy Birthday to me!

Brings the eye up. (Greg thinks I should have hung them higher on the wall. What do you think?)

Yay! I am so pleased with the results.
