Patient Little Person

Cole, Crew, and I at Desert Book looking for a baptism gift (and whatever else caught my eye)...

Cole: "Mom, Mom...Mom, MOM, MOM...I really want this."
Me: "Just a min." (balancing Crew's car seat on my hip while holding a gift in the other hand. Not paying attention.)
Cole: "Mom, Mom, Mom....MOM!"
Me: "Just a min."
Cole: "Mom, Mom, Mom, I like this."
Me: "Yes, Cole. I know." (looking at bookshelf still not really paying attention.)
Random Lady: (looking at me...) "What a sweet little person."
Me: (with a questioning look, wondering what "little person" she was referring to?)
Random lady: "Your son is so cute and patient with you."
Me: (Huh? Patient with me? I thought I was the one with the patience here.) "Thank you." (but still, huh?)

Two more stops and an hour later...
(Yeah, he is definitely the patient one. Never thought of it that way.)

Sock It to Me Monkey

When my friend Karen told me she was doing a sock monkey theme for her nursery, I became a tiny bit obsessed with finding cute fabric. I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to do with said fabric, because after all I am not a sewer, but when I came across these cute monkeys in JoAnns I decided I would do a rag quilt.

Good thing my sis and I were meeting up for a girls weekend, because truly I would not have been able to finish this project without her. My mom had shown me what to do and we made a quilt for Cole together (well, I'd say Mom did most of it, I was in charge of ironing and went to bed early - and by early I mean before midnight).

I couldn't find the real sock monkey fabric, so I went with what I could find and now I am official in love with my own quilt. Yes, for a moment, be it brief, I almost kept the blanket for myself. But, alas, she is a good friend so I parted with it and threw her a fun shower this weekend. I had a good time pulling things together and we had a lovely affair on Sat., which was promptly followed by a nap.

Good times with good friends. :) And I will be putting my sewing machine away for a time.

(Seriously, I look more tired here than she does...I had a short crying episode minutes before the shower due to the shredding of a red onion...that didn't help the tired look...)

Oh, I also had to post the beautiful floral arrangement her sister brought for me from their family floral shop in St. George. I love it. I was thinking I should pick up some flowers for the shower and then ran out of time, so when these showed up it was perfect! These are so me!

Birthday Battle - The Party

Like true battle we braved the elements of an overcast and rainy day for a fight that won't soon be forgot...

The Birthday Day

Cole's 4th birthday started with morning greetings with hats and horns followed by breakfast with a blue birthday ribbon (cute idea, but we forgot to pin it on) and a new bike (as well as calls from G-mas and G-pas). We met his friends at the park for playtime and cupcakes, then headed to McDonalds for lunch with Dad...except McDonald's was a zoo, so we ended up at Wendy's (chicken nuggets are chicken nuggets, right?).

Then, I headed out of town to take care of important things like this:

and drool over things like this:

and make things like this:
And stay up late with my sis and some other great ladies at Scrapfest.

So, Cole's official party had to wait until the next weekend. (But, I have a feeling by the way the house looked when I got home that it was pretty much a party while I was gone...)

Brothers

Grandma & Grandpa A sent this cute postcard from Maui and said it reminded them of some pics of Cole and Crew... and I knew just what photo they meant.

And 8 months later they are still playing like this together...except Cole is usually laying on top of Crew making him laugh or getting a little rough with his wrestling moves. I love my boys!

Cheers to that!

Big Little News

Just wanted to share the big news...we discovered Crew has finally broken skin on his 1st tooth. I tried to get a pic, but that proved a little difficult.

Can you see the little white guy poking through his bottom gums?

Today he also had his first (McDonald's) french fry -- a momentous occasion in any young American family.
